Chasten's Weekly Recap: seven days with the Word, a best day of 56 minutes, and 256 minutes in all
The Chasten app open to Psalm 23 in the Berean Standard Bible

What is in the app

The reader

A reader worth lingering in

Four beloved translations, the BSB, KJV, WEB and ASV, fully offline. Chapters read aloud. Highlights in soft tones you can mix yourself, private notes, saved verses, a bookmark that waits, and search across the whole Bible. Every book has an introduction: who wrote it, when, and why.

The candle

A candle, not a scoreboard

Your streak is a candle with grace days built in. Miss a day and grace holds the flame, because returning is the win, never perfection. Insights show your minutes, your progress through all 66 books and your milestones, and they compare you with exactly one person: you.

Bible Trivia

Play your way into Scripture

Challenge a friend to head-to-head rounds you each play on your own time, from more than 600 questions. Every answer cites chapter and verse, and one tap opens the passage. Three power-ups every match, always free. No leaderboards, ever.

Share

Share any verse, beautifully

Photo cards or ink cards, story or square, nine typefaces, or a photo of your own. Send it to Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram and more, or save the card.

Questions

Is the Chasten app free?
Yes. Chasten is free to download, and the Bible in it is free, always: every book, every chapter. Some optional features may carry a fee in the future. Reading never will.
Does Chasten have ads?
No. Nothing is sold beside the text you came to read, in the app or on the web. It is the second promise of Chasten's covenant: no ads in the Word.
Which phones does it run on?
iPhone, on iOS 15.1 or later, and Android phones, on Android 7.0 or later. Chasten is designed for iPhone; there is no separate iPad version.
Do I need an account?
No. Reading, search, audio, the book introductions and the candle all work without one. A free account adds highlights, notes, saved verses, memorization, Bible Trivia and friends. Accounts are for readers 13 and older.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The BSB, KJV, WEB and ASV are stored on your phone, so you can read anywhere. Audio, syncing and a few extras need a connection.
Is it the same account as chasten.ai?
Yes. Sign in on the web with the same Apple, Google or email account, and your highlights, notes and saved verses are there.
