Darby Translation
(and our hope for you [is] sure;) or whether we are encouraged, [it is] for your encouragement and salvation: knowing that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also of the encouragement.
Young's Literal Translation
and our hope [is] stedfast for you, knowing that even as ye are partakers of the sufferings — so also of the comfort.
Bible in Basic English
And our hope for you is certain; in the knowledge that as you take part in the troubles, so you will take part in the comfort.
6If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which accomplishes in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we experience.
8We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the hardships we encountered in the province of Asia. We were under a burden far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.
